歡慶建國百年古寧頭將設和平鐘

For the centennial celebration of the Republic of China, a "Centennial Carnival" will be held on August 23 of next year in Kinmen. President Ma, Ying-Jiu will be invited to ring the "Peace Bell," an image of peace set up for this special occasion. In order to explain the contents of the build-up and carnival plans to the local residents of Guningtou, government officials from the Council for Cultural Affairs (CCA) specifically visited Guningtou on November 9.
　 為慶祝中華民國建國百年，明年的八月二十三日，在金門將有一場「百年和平嘉年華會」，將邀請總統馬英九來敲響設置在古寧頭的「和平鐘」，打造和平意象。文建會官員特別在9日來到古寧村向居民說明規劃內容。

The CCA pointed out that the plan for this "Centennial Carnival" is to invite the youth from 100 different countries to join this event in Kinmen, and an extend invitation will be sent to the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize winner-Nelson Mandela (former president of South Africa) hoping that he will be present, too. Other related activities include the Peace Art Exhibit, etc.
　 文建會指出，這項「嘉年華會」規劃邀請來自一百個國家的青少年，到金門來參加這項活動，也希望能邀請到1993年諾貝爾和平獎得主曼德拉（南非前總統）。其他的相關活動還包括和平藝術展等。

The CCA stated that the purpose hosting the "Centennial Carnival" in Kinmen-formerly a defensive fort-is to transform traces of war into a sounding place of peace, commemorate hard-won social harmony, and thus allow the world to witness the universal value of peace.
　 文建會表示，金門曾經是一座抗戰堡壘，藉由建國一百年這個特別的時機，在金門舉辦「百年和平嘉年華會活動」，希望能將戰爭遺跡化為和平的發祥地，闡揚和平，紀念得來不易的社會祥和，讓全世界見證和平之普世價值。
