薛主席與旅台學人共商家鄉大計

Kinmen is currently in its crucial moment of development. On March 13th, Fujian Provincial Governor Xue, Cheng-Tai (薛承泰) invited several core members of the Taiwan Kinmenese Scholars Association to a gathering to discuss the future of their hometown. Xue hopes the association will become the communication platform between Kinmenese for idea sharing on sustainable development for Kinmen.
　 金門正處於發展關鍵的時刻，福建省政府主席薛承泰13日特邀金門旅臺學人聯誼會幹部共聚，共商「家鄉」大計，他希望學人聯誼會成為一個溝通平臺，齊為家鄉永續發展獻策。

During his opening speech, Governor Xue said that, despite not being able to fully devote to the role of Fujian Provincial Governor, he has managed to make significant progress in three main infrastructure projects in Kinmen. The key purpose of this gathering was to bring new blood into the association and to make the association a communication platform.
　 薛承泰主席致詞時表示，雖然他只是「兼任」福建省省主席，但一年半任內已協助金門的三大工程跨出一大步，辦理本次聯誼，最重要的就是把新進的學人帶進聯誼會，讓學人會成為一個溝通平臺。

NQU President Li, Jin- Zhen (李金振) was the first to speak. He pointed out that the success of upgrading NQU was primarily due to the input of Governor Xue and Magistrate Li, as well as the seamless (1) cooperation of all the Kinmen fellows. He further emphasized that, in the future, NQU will continue to release its potential and its positive influence to the transformation of Kinmen into a major academic region.
　 金門大學校長李金振首先發言，針對金大升格的成果，要感謝薛主席、李縣長的努力，以及各界金門鄉親團結合作。他強調未來一定會讓潛在的能量繼續釋放，讓金門成為教育重鎮。

During the meeting, Li Xiqi(李錫奇), Privy Councilor (2) to the President Ma, had suggested opening a museum in Kinmen. In his opinion, Kinmen should focus on acquiring a refined culture and promote overall cultural awareness since culture makes a city great. All participants also brainstormed many ideas related to various topics such as: sustainable development, education, and cross strait development in the future.
　 總統府李錫奇顧問在會中建議金門建構一座美術館。他認為，金門應發展精緻文化，提升文化氣質，因為文化能使一個城市偉大。與會學者也就金門永續發展，教育，兩岸未來發展等諸多議題提出意見。

County Magistrate Li, Wo-Shi expressed his gratitude to all who provide their expertise (3) and suggestions. In the future, he said that the county government will give full support to NQU in its progression to become an excellent academic institution. Magistrate Li will also demand all units of county government to achieve genuine sustainable development. For example, in the field of water resource conservation, the county government could promote rain water recycling and groundwater (4) backfilling. (5) Furthermore, he will also give instruction to relevant units to build up a Human Resource database. He is looking forward to hearing from experts in different fields about the various issues and subjects.
　 針對各界學人提供的建言，縣長李沃士表示感謝，強調縣府未來將全力以赴支持金門大學，讓大學辦得好；也會要求縣府各單位落實永續發展，比如說在水資源方面，做雨水回收與回填地下水；也會指示相關單位建立人力資料庫，並期望各界學人針對各種議題主動提供建言。
