泳渡金廈海上長泳八月一日盛大登場

編按：有關泳度金廈海上長泳活動，已經在8月15日盛大舉行，本文係今年4月份縣府召開第二次協調會時所發布之新聞，因此，當時預定之活動內容、時間等相關細節與實際情況均有差距。

金廈兩岸預定８月１日合辦「泳渡金廈」體育交流，金門縣政府四月八日召開第二次協調會，為海泳安全，金防部同意配合移除矗立海灘數十年的軌條砦，並決定活動結束後，再將軌條砦「歸位」恢復原貌。
Pursuant to(1) agreement of both sides of the Taiwan Strait, a sports interchange event named "Swim Across Kinmen-Xiamen Strait" has been scheduled for August 1st this year. On April 8th Kinmen County Government held the second coordination meeting. For swimming safety, Kinmen Defense Command agrees to temporarily remove the rail stockades,(2) which have been on the beach for decades, until conclusion of the event.

　 陸委會三月廿四日同意金門縣與廈門市人民政府共同主辦泳渡金廈海上長泳，主持協調會的副縣長楊忠全認為，兩岸共辦泳渡金廈是件「喜事」、「好事」，盼各相關單位全力以赴，分工合作，以圓滿完成這項歷史新創舉。
　 Mainland Affairs Council on March 24 consented to the Swim Across Kinmen-Xiamen Strait jointly sponsored(3) by Kinmen County Government and Xiamen Municipal Government. Presiding(4) over the coordination meeting, deputy magistrate Yang Zhong-Quan says collaboration of both sides of the Taiwan Strait in Swim Across Kinmen-Xiamen Strait is a good and delightful thing. He urges all agencies concerned to work together to successfully accomplish this historic event.

　　其中，有關軌條砦移除估計數量約有五百支，金防部同意基於維護泳者安全前提之下，在活動前兩星期進行移除，俟活動結束後一星期立即著手恢復；同時考量雷區及據點問題，軍方也要求整個動線界定要明確；此外，空拍部份，只要是我方範圍金防部願全力配合；比較棘手是飛行傘安全問題，因風勢或天候因素難以掌控，但仍要以安全第一為重。
　 There are approximately 500 rail stockades to be cleared. For the safety of the swimmers, Kinmen Defense Command agrees to relocate the rail stockades two weeks prior to the activity and restore them one week after the event is over. In view of the landmine area and security depot(5) issues, the military authority requires the organizer to clearly define the routes. Kinmen Defense Command also agrees to provide full support for aerial filming(6) as long as it is done within our domain. Paragliding(7) safety remains a primary concern. Since wind and climate factors are hard to control, every measure has to be exacted to ensure safety.

　 有關「橫渡金廈海上長泳活動」，縣府教育局長李再杭在會中提出簡報指出，活動預定在今年8月1日星期六（農曆6月11日），預定12時30分下水出發，泳程由廈門椰風寨至小金門雙口，直線距離約6千公尺，估計要花費約3至3個半小時，預定當天下午3時30分上岸。全程視泳渡選手現場情況做適度調整，對泳者採全程安全戒護。
　 Regarding the "Swim Across Kinmen-Xiamen Strait", county government education department director Li Zhai-Hung indicates in his briefing that the event is slated for(8) Saturday, August 1st (June 11th according to the lunar calendar). The swimmers are scheduled to set out(9) at 12:30 PM. The direct distance of the swim course from Yefengzhai, Xiamen to Shuangkou, Xiaojinmen is about 6,000 meters, which may require three to three and a half hours to finish. Thus, all the swimmers are expected to reach the shore at 3:30 PM. In accordance with the conditions of the swimmers, adjustments will be made to ensure their safety throughout the journey.

參加對象將邀請兩岸文體明星及各界代表人士、玩水名家如奧運金牌選手、世界大賽冠軍等華人共同參與；參加泳渡人員以1百人以內為限（雙方暫訂各50名為原則，視實際游泳能力狀況增減人數），參加人員由各當地主辦單位負責推薦或選拔，並繳交推薦書，其體能及游泳技能必須達到一定標準（游泳池內2小時能游完8500公尺者，取最佳名次）。
To be invited for this affair are cultural and athletic stars and representatives of different sectors from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, as well as Chinese marine activity leaders, such as Olympic gold medalists(10) and world event champions. The number of the participants is tentatively(11) set to be no more than 100 (50 from each side, to be adjusted according to swimmers' actual swimming abilities). Participants are to be selected or recommended by local organizers, with letters of recommendation required. The physical fitness and swim skill of the participants must meet the established standard (being able to finish 8,500 meters within two hours in the swimming pool; selected according to ranking of performance).

■1. pursuant to-隨著、緊接著～之後。pursuant是形容詞，指隨後的。
■2. rail stockade-軌條砦。一種以鐵軌切段豎立於岸際的軍事防禦措施，此處stockade指防禦柵欄、圍欄，rail則是鐵軌。
■3. sponsor-(vt.)倡議、發起。jointed spnsor就是「共同發起」或「共同舉辦」之意。
■4. preside-(vi.)擔任會議主席；主持會議。與at或over連用。
■5. depot-(n)軍事補給站或「兵站」，此處security depot指的是部隊的「據點」。
■6. aerial filming-指「空拍」。aerial指「航空的、飛行的、由飛機進行的」。
■7. paragliding-(n)飛行傘。形狀類似降落傘，但可人為操控滑翔方向。另有一種固定翼的「滑翔傘」，叫hand gliding。
■8. slate for-預定、選定。slate較常見的用法是當作名詞，指「石板」，或當作動詞，指「鋪上石板」。
■9. set out-開始或展開（旅程…等）。
■10. medalist-(n)獎牌得主。
■11. tentatively-(adv.)暫時地。
