18歲以下兒少北市就醫 麥當勞兒童之家提供免費住宿

As a feedback to society to look after(1) social minorities, the Ronald McDonald House Charities,(2) sponsored by enterprises, now offers accommodations(3) for children under 18, as well as their caring family members, who come from remote regions and offshore islands to seek medication at medical centers like Taipei Veteran General Hospital, Tri-Service General Hospital or National Taiwan University Hospital in Taipei.
台北縣、市以外之偏遠及離島地區，十八歲以下之兒童、青少年，若轉診到台北榮總、三軍總醫院、台大醫院等大型醫院治療，麥當勞兒童之家本著回饋民眾、照顧社會弱勢之意，在企業的贊助下，提供兒童或照顧親屬免費住宿服務。

A private citizen surnamed Wang from Jinsha Town said he is one of those who have benefited from the offer. His grandson had just undergone a 14-hour brain tumor(4) surgery in Taipei. Going all the way from Kinmen to see the child but unable to find a place to stay, he sought assistance from the nursing personnel at the Taipei Veterans Hospital. Through their referral,(5) he was given free lodging(6) at the Ronal McDonald House for eight days. His grandson is still in the hospital and he will travel to Taiwan again to relieve(7) his daughter-in-law and look after the child. He has contacted the Ronald McDonald House and will stay there again.
家住金沙鎮的王姓民眾說，他自己就是受惠者，日前孫子腦瘤住院，進行十四小時的手術，由於大老遠從金門趕過去沒有住宿地點，因此，他向護理人員反映住宿問題，經北榮醫護人員的轉介下，免費到麥當勞兒童之家住宿八天，孫子目前仍在住院中，他說，將再赴台和兒媳交班照顧，經聯絡後又將入住麥當勞兒童之家。

According to Wang, currently there are government transportation subsidies for people over 65 years old, children under 12 or handicapped people, as well as their accompanying family members, who are transferred from Kinmen to Taiwan for medication. If government lodging services like the Armed Forces' Hero House can provide cheap accommodations for people from Kinmen, it can really reduce their burden and they will be able to concentrate on taking care of their family members.
王姓民眾也表示，金門地區在一般民眾轉診赴台就醫，除了六十五歲以上以及幼童或身障者之陪同人家屬有交通補助外，是否能夠研議和國軍英雄館等單位配合，提供金門鄉親緊急需求之住宿優惠，以減輕民眾之負擔，專心照料家人。

Mr. Lin from the Ronal McDonald House Charities expressed that the free lodging service is meant to help children, as well as their family members, from remote areas or offshore islands seeking medication in Taipei. People who need such assistance will have to acquire a "Letter of Referral" from the doctor. Hospital social workers will contact the Ronal McDonald House after the hospital confirms the need of accommodations. Ronald McDonald House will then arrange free lodging for such people. 麥當勞兒童之家林先生表示，麥當勞之家提供之免費住宿服務係在照顧偏遠地區或離島地區前往就醫之院童和家屬，有需要之院童或照顧家屬需由醫生開立「轉介單」，由院方評估後透過醫院社工和麥當勞之家聯繫，經評估確實因為看診就醫需要住宿之下，將會安排免費住宿服務，提醒金門鄉親萬一有需求可以和醫護人員提出，相關事宜亦可電洽02-26581300查詢。
