搶標世博台灣館？李縣長：審慎評估中

The fact that Kinmen Government might vie (1) for the Taiwan Pavilion (2) in the Shanghai 2010 World Expo, attracted much attention from outsiders. During an interview on September 2nd, Magistrate Li stated that since the bidding price for Taiwan Pavilion would range from 1 to 1.2 billion NT dollars, the county government would need to carefully evaluate the feasibility (3) and worthiness of the bidding. Li also expressed that the county council's opinion should be respected.
　 金門縣政府是否全力爭取「搶標上海世博台灣館到金門」，備受外界關注，縣長李沃士9月2日接受訪問時表示，由於台灣館估計標售價達10億至12億元，縣府還要審慎評估，且須徵詢並尊重議會意見。

The Taiwan External Trade Development Council publicly auctioned Taiwan Pavilion in the Shanghai World Exposition. The bottom price was set to be 416,880,000 NT dollars. The county government sent Li, Xi-Long (李錫隆), Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, to participate in the explanation session of the auction. 外貿協會公開標售世博台灣館，標售底價為4億1千6百88萬元，縣府曾於8月26日指派文化局長李錫隆參與投標說明會，但由於標售底價非常高，引起縣民關切。

Magistrate Li admitted, that the effort to move the Taiwan Pavilion from Shanghai to Kinmen demanded a significant amount of money. Aside from that, the positive profit and operation results of the pavilion would hardly seem guaranteed in the near future. Therefore, Magistrate Li would plan to consult with the Speaker of the County Council and the County Councilors. He also thought the County Government should study and carefully evaluate the entire situation.
　 李縣長表示，爭取上海世博台灣館遷至金門，金額的確不是小數目，未來營運也不見得有把握，因此，還要徵詢縣議長王再生以及議員們的意見，並由縣府進行研究，以審慎態度評估。

Li, Xi-Long, Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, pointed out that the moving of the Taiwan Pavilion from Shanghai to Kinmen could compliment (4) the one-hundredth anniversary celebration of the R.O.C., improving the image of Kinmen and benefitting island tourism. Nevertheless, Li stated, the required investment of at least 1-1.2 billion NT dollars could be burdensome (5), as well as the estimated two year reconstruction period. Both these factors could certainly hurt the appeal (6) of relocating the pavilion. In addition, the operation cost was expected to be fairly high, so the pavilion might still suffer a deficit (7) even after it sold out of entrance tickets. Therefore, further careful evaluation on the possible bidding by the Kinmen County Government was strongly recommended.
　 據文化局長李錫隆指出，上海世博台灣館移至金門，可配合建國百年成為慶祝活動之一，為金門形象加分，也有益於金門觀光。但投資金額過鉅，粗估要10億至12億元，且重建約需2年時間，認為遷館至金門的吸引力有限，加上營運成本高，即使收門票也可能虧損，建議還要審慎評估。
