The United States Congress on Tuesday unveiled the final version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2023, whichauthorizes up to US$12 billion in grants and loans to Taiwan over the next five years to buy U.S. weapons.

美國國會於週二公佈2023財年國防授權法案 (NDAA) 最終版本，該法案授權在未來五年內向台灣提供高達 120 億美元的贈款和貸款，用於購買美國武器。

The act would authorize up to US$2 billion in annual grants from 2023 to 2027, as well as an additional US$2 billion in loans for Taiwan to bolster its military capabilities with weapons from the US.

The act also recommends that Washington invite Taiwan to attend the next Rim of the Pacific Exercise in 2024, which the US organizes.

該法案亦建議華盛頓邀請台灣參加 2024 年由美國組織的下一版環太平洋演習 (RIMPAC) 軍事演習。

The NDAA for the fiscal year 2023 is expected to be voted on by the Senate next week. If it passes, the bill will be sent to the White House and signed into law by President Joe Biden.

2023財年國防授權法案預計下週於參議院審議。若表決過關，法案將送白宮，由美國總統拜登簽署後生效。
