金門和平鐘聲8/23全球同步共鳴

On August 23, the Bell of Peace will be rung in Kinmen Memorial Peace Park in Guningtou at 11 A.M. At the same time, more than 20 countries worldwide, and more than 200 temples, churches, and schools in Taiwan will ring their bells simultaneously (1) to show their determination in pursuing the universal value of peace. This will undoubtedly mark the highlight of the event, the Sound of Peace-ROC Centennial Peace Day".
今年八月二十三日上午十一時，古寧頭的金門和平紀念公園將敲響和平鐘；全球二十幾個國家及全台二百多個寺廟、教堂與學校的鐘聲也將同步敲響，傳遞追求和平的普世價值，也為「聽見和平-中華民國建國一百年和平祈福日」締造最高潮。

On June 27, Vice President Vincent C. Siew hosted the international press conference for "Sound of Peace-ROC Centennial Peace Day" in the auditorium (2) on the 3rd floor of the Presidential Office. Together the Minister of the Council for Cultural Affairs Minister, Emile Sheng (盛治仁), Kinmen County Magistrate Li, Wo-Shi (李沃士), and Lienchiang County Magistrate Yang, Sui-Sheng (楊綏生), pressed the button together to signify the beginning of the celebrations of Centennial Peace Day. And for the first time, the Kinmen Peace Bell, which will be located in the center of the Kinmen Memorial Peace Park in Guningtou, was unveiled (3).
副總統蕭萬長二十七日在總統府三樓大禮堂主持「聽見和平─中華民國建國一百年和平祈福日」國際記者會，他與行政院文建會主委盛治仁、金門縣長李沃士、連江縣長楊綏生等人，共同按鈕啟動建國百年和平祈福日的各項活動，並首次公開將矗立在古寧頭和平紀念公園中央處的「金門和平鐘」。

Vice President Vincent Siew said that by commemorating Centennial Peace Day, the people can transform the bitter memories of war into hope for future peace, and further learn to respect and preserve the natural environment. He invited the entire world to hear the "Sound of Peace" with Taiwan and hoped that people around the world will treasure the eternal value of peace.
蕭副總統說，期盼藉由和平祈福日全台響應，將過去戰爭的記憶轉化成對未來和平的展望，並擴及對大自然生態的尊重與保護，他籲請世人珍惜永恆和平的價值，並邀全世界跟我們一齊來「聽見和平」。
