My Dream Trip to Australia
Hello! My name is Garles. I was born in Kinmen, and I study at Jincheng Junior High School. I am thirteen years old, and I enjoy learning different things. I learned to play the tuba when I was nine years old. Music makes me feel relaxed, and I forget about unhappy things when I play it. During the last summer vacation, many of my friends visited Australia. They shared that the trip was a lot of fun. They made many new friends, stayed with host families, and experienced the local culture. After hearing about their experiences, I hope to have the opportunity to participate in this program and visit Australia. I want to learn about the local culture, taste the local food, and observe the local animals, such as Tasmanian devils and wombats. I want to participate in an international exchange program because this activity will allow me to step out of Kinmen. The world is big and full of places worth discovering. I look forward to stepping out of my comfort zone, leaving my hometown, and discovering more beautiful things.

A Better Self
Talia, a junior high school student, had an overwhelming addiction to sweets. Every day, her meals consisted of sugary treats: bubble milk tea and doughnuts for breakfast, cakes and pudding for lunch, and ice cream with syrup for dinner. Her excessive consumption of desserts became a serious problem because she gained weight day by day. Most terribly, her poor dietary habits not only affected her appearance but also her health, as she didn't have balanced nutrition, which led to daily digestive problems. One day, she was determined to make a change. Talia made a comprehensive plan. She gradually replaced sugary foods with nutritious meals and committed herself to daily exercise. The process wasn't easy, but her perseverance paid off. As weeks turned into months, she noticed positive changes in both her physical appearance and overall well-being. Finally, Talia transformed herself into a healthier, more confident person. Her story serves as an inspiring reminder that with determination and proper habits, positive change is always possible. The key is to maintain a balanced diet and exercise regularly.

The Memories of Guningtou
At Guningtou's tranquil shore, Footprints once marched through storms and cannon fire, Etching stories of courage in the shifting sand, Where echoes of battle still linger. Gentle waves brush the beach, Like storytellers whispering tales of the past. There was a time when the sky turned gray, And thunderous shells shook the trembling earth. Young soldiers stood their ground, Hearts beating in unison with the fearful land, Yet their resolve never faltered, For they fought to shield their cherished home. An ancient banyan tree watched in silence, Witnessing fear, sacrifice, and sorrow. Now, beneath its sheltering shade, children laugh and play, And soft sunlight warms their hopeful smiles. Kinmen, in each grain of your soil, A legacy of heroism gleams, binding past to present. We stroll along your peaceful coast, free from war, Carrying memories of strength into tomorrow.

My English Learning Journey
In my class, I have some of the best English skills among my classmates. I often get excellent grades on exams, have great pronunciation, and when the English teacher asks me a question, I can answer it correctly. My classmates usually think that I study a lot for English or attend a cram school, or that I am just lucky enough to guess all the exam answers. I usually reply to them: No. My success with English started when I was very young. When I was four years old, my life revolved around English. Every video I watched wasn't a cartoon, but an English word-learning video or an English pop song. These videos had a great rhythm that attracted me, and I used them to learn many words and their pronunciation. There was also an alphabet chart on my room's door. After watching the learning videos, I always tried to read the words on the chart. I did this over and over again, and I became good at reading them and memorized them quickly. When I was an elementary school student, I did my best to get good grades and learn vocabulary and sentence structures, but I didn't think I had great English skills at all, and I didn't even use it for other things. Then, while I was searching for information about things I was interested in, I encountered a problem: I couldn't find the information I wanted. When I tried searching in English, I found it! I realized I could get more information and many other things by using English or other languages to search and find. I finally understood how useful English skills were. Now, I can use English to talk to people smoothly, pronounce words correctly, and get good grades on English exams. Additionally, I even gave a speech in front of everyone at school without making a mistake and was praised by the principal. Every time I want to search for more recipes to cook or more methods to improve something, I can use English to search and always find what I need. Having great English skills is very important and useful for me; it has helped me complete many tasks and enjoy a better life. You can also have great English skills like me-or even better-if you make English a part of your daily life. It might sound difficult, right? But I really did it when I was young! If you still think learning English is hard and time-consuming, why not use English to search for things you need but can't find in Chinese? You might find it if you try searching in English. Learning English properly and using it in real life will give you the best experience.

Fun in Mount Taiwu
Last time, I went to Mount Taiwu with my friends and my teacher. We went hiking, and I was very happy because I could play with my good friends and learn English from my teacher. When I was on the mountain, I was sweating a lot. I walked a long way to get there. There was a temple, which was very famous in Kinmen. It protected all the people in the area, and we saw it right in front of us. I was really happy this time. I also shared the story of Kinmen with my teacher and friends, and they were very interested in what I said. After walking for just three more minutes, we arrived at the temple. There was a cat, and it was so cute! We touched the cat, but then it ran away. After that, we had to go back. Before leaving, we took a picture in front of the big "毋忘在莒" stone. Hiking was really fun!

A Busy Day of a Middle School Student
This morning, I almost slept through my alarm and ended up rushing out of the house at 7:28 AM. I didn't even have time for breakfast, so I grabbed a piece of toast and dashed to school like one of those cartoon characters. Yesterday, I stayed up late finishing homework, and guess what? I was dead tired. During classes, I could barely keep my eyes open. Suddenly, the teacher dropped a pop quiz on us. A POP QUIZ! My brain was so exhausted that I couldn't even figure out how to answer the first question. By the end of the quiz, I knew I was doomed. After dragging myself through the rest of the morning, the clock finally hit 4:30 PM, and it was basketball club time! I needed this break more than anything. My best friend and I had a one-on-one match, and guess what? I won! It was such a close and exciting game that I almost forgot how bad my morning had been. By the end of it, I was starving, so I went to my favorite little restaurant and treated myself to a simple but delicious dinner at 6:30 PM. But my day wasn't over yet. At 7:30 PM, I had math tutoring for two whole hours at a cram school. It was tough, and I felt tired and lethargic. When I finally got home, I took a nice shower, finished my homework, and collapsed into bed. What a crazy, busy day! But at least it ended much better than it started.
